From a Retirement Celebration, Encore Found Its Beginnings with Rita Docter

In February of 2011, the Angelica Cantanti Youth Choirs          experienced the momentous retirement of Rita Docter, a woman devoted to teaching and nurturing children who loved to sing, since 1980. In her honor, 30 years of Angelica alumni participated in a celebratory concert to thank her, not only for what she had done for the organization, but the impact she'd made on each of them individually.

Several years later, Encore continues to thrive...born from that retirement concert, our singers' desire to join together in song is now stronger than ever. Today, you will find the choir exists not only of Angelica alumni, but their parents, spouses, coworkers, siblings, cousins, friends, current Angelica youth parents and new members emerging from our community. We pride ourselves on representing the future of our Angelica youth as successful role models who prove that singing doesn’t stop after high school or college graduation.
